My play, REALITY CHECK, is a 2021 Finalist in the annual City Theatre National Short Playwriting Contest. Founded in 1996, City Theatre is the only professional theatre in the country dedicated to the discovery, development and production of short plays and musicals. The company has produced or presented more than 1000 plays in a robust variety of programming, year-round and for all ages. Its annual City Theatre National Contest for Short Playwriting exists to honor and recognize talented playwrights, reward excellence in dramatic writing, increase the visibility of this delightful genre, and provide professional opportunities for playwrights.

City Theatre’s evolving programming and audiences offer numerous opportunities for Contest plays and playwrights, meaning Finalist scripts might have ongoing consideration beyond the year of submission for paid professional readings, production opportunities with royalties, commissions. Finalist Playwrights are invited to attend SUMMER SHORTS and CityWrights Industry Weekend. The WINNING Contest playwright receives a production, royalties, a cash prize of $1,000, and a trip to Miami. The 2021 Contest Finalist plays are written by well-known, mid-career and emerging new voices, and feature an exciting breadth of theatrical styles, storytelling, and production possibilities.
